James "Jim" Welch, 83, N. Kentucky Ave, Hopkinsville, died on Monday, September 16, 2019 at his home of natural causes.
Services will be at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, September 19, 2019 at Lamb Funeral Home with Rev. Ross Littlepage officiating. Burial will be at Green Hill Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until the service hour on Thursday, September 19, 2019 at the funeral home.
A native of Rutherford County, Tennessee, he was born January 10, 1936, the son of the late Gains Welch and the late Evelyn Walker Welch.
He was a Deputy Sheriff with the Christian County Sheriff's Office for 30 years. He also served in the United States Army.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth Ann " Libby " Gilkey Welch; his son, Mark Welch; his daughter, Amy Welch; and his brother, Edward Welch.
Survivors include his sons, Matthew (Tonya) Welch and John (Allison) Welch, both of Hopkinsville; his daughter, Tresa Morgan, Hopkinsville; his sister, Barbara Beasley, Murfreesboro, Tennessee; his Grandchildren, Jodi Fox, Beth Artis and Luke Welch; and his Great Grandchildren, Zeb Fox, John Thomas Fox, Alexus Artis, Kaitlyn Artis, and Tristen Artis.
