Betty Russell

Betty Russell, 93, Hopkinsville, KY, passed away Friday, May 29, 2026 at Christian Health Center of natural causes.

A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 3, 2026 at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery West. Lamb Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements.

A native of London, KY, she was born August 14, 1932, the daughter of the late Lee Nicholson and the late Hermia (Murrell) Nicholson.

Betty was a homemaker and a member of the Eastern Star. She was of the Christian faith.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Overton H. Russell; her son, Robert Dale Russell; her daughters, Joyce Ann Russell and Janice Katherine Cunningham; her brothers, Darl Nicholson, Gordon Nicholson, Ronnie Nicholson; her sisters, Eula King, Beulah Weatherall, Gladys Check, Opal Nicholson Rush, Brenda Nicholson Bekemier; and her special aunt, Jessie Murrell Lewis.

Survivors include her grandchildren, Greg (Rhonda) Abner and Shannon Russell; her great-grandchildren, JB (Taylor) Hendricks, Jacob Abner, Jarrod Russell; her great-great-granddaughter, Livia Hendricks; her brothers, Roger (Wanda) Nicholson, Wayne (Peggy) Nicholson, Gene Nicholson, Jimmy Nicholson, Larry (Pamela) Nicholson, Thomas Kevin Nicholson; her sister, Beatrice Brown; and several nieces and nephews.
