Cecil R. Joiner

Cecil Ray Joiner, 85, Gonzales, LA, formerly of Herndon, KY, passed away Monday, December 19, 2022 with family by his side, to join his beloved wife Mary Joiner in Heaven.

A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, December 30, 2022 at Flat Lick Cemetery with Rev. Terry Hancock officiating. Lamb Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements.

A native of Herndon, KY, he was born May 5, 1937, the son of the late Henry Jabe Joiner and the late Ruby Lee (Mathis) Joiner.

Cecil served in the United States Navy. He moved to Louisiana in 1977 and worked as an operator for Nalco Chemical, where he retired after 33 years. He enjoyed traveling, fishing, crossword puzzles, and spending time with his family. He was patient, kind, and loved to tease. In every stage of his life, his personality shone through and was a wonderful father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and "Pepaw".

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Joiner; his brothers, Garner Joiner, Walton Joiner, and Henry Joiner; his sisters, Minnie Frances Moore, Betty Lou Hancock, Rosa Lee Marques, Jean Mull, and Joyce Baldwin.

Survivors include his daughter, Donna (Robert) Lowry, Gonzales, LA; his son, Brian (Jennifer) Joiner, Suntan Valley, AZ; his granddaughters, Melanie (Zach) Niewinski and Lauren (Tyler) Billingsley; and his great-grandchildren, Aurora Niewinski, Prudence Niewinski, Gage Billingsley, and Liv Billingsley.
