Darrell W. “The Tater Guy” Chinn, 61, Rockcastle Road, Cadiz, KY passed away on Wednesday, June 3, 2026 at his home of natural causes.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 23, 2026 at Greater Cumberland Baptist Church with Rev. Paul Edes officiating. Burial will follow in Kentucky Veterans Cemetery West with full military honors. Lamb Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements.
Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Monday, June 22, 2026 at Great Cumberland Baptist Church.
A native of Somerset, KY, he was born August 8, 1964, the son of the late Harold Dean Chinn and Joann Chinn.
Darrell retired from the United States Army with the rank of lieutenant colonel. After the Army, he taught the character under construction class at Trigg County Middle School. Darrell was a member of Greater Cumberland Baptist Church and Trigg/Lyon County Volunteer Fire Department. Throughout his life he had acquired many titles and nicknames but out of them all his favorite had simply become the title of “Pop-C” to his granddaughter.
Survivors include his wife of 40 years, Faith Chinn, Cadiz, KY; his sons, Matthew (Abby) Chinn, Radford, VA, Luke Chinn, Cadiz, KY, John Chinn, Murray, KY; his daughter, Hope (Ben) Anthony, Paducah, KY; his mother, Joann Chinn, Speedwell, TN; his brother, Tim (Rene) Chinn, Elgin, IL; his sister, Janet (Joe) Leist, Hamilton, OH; and his granddaughter, Elizabeth Chinn.
