Don Stanley, 83, Wilshire Circle, Hopkinsville, KY, passed away Sunday, September 18, 2022 at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, Nashville, TN of natural causes.
Funeral services will be held at 6:00 p.m. Thursday, September 22, 2022 at Lamb Funeral Home with Darwin Marshall officiating.
Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until the service hour on Thursday, September 22, 2022 at the funeral home.
A native of Iola, Kansas, he was born May 5, 1939, the son of the late Samuel Stout Stanley and the late Jeanette (Burgess) Stanley.
Don retired from the United States Army after serving 21 years and then worked 19 years for civil service. He was a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church, where he was in Agape Sunday school class. He also helped serve in the jail/prison ministry. Don loved entertaining and was the clown know as “Hugger”.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Dalene Stanley; his brother, Richard Stanley and Kermit Walker.
Survivors include his wife, Jo Ann Humphries Means Stanley, Hopkinsville, KY; his sons, Mark (Lisa) Stanley, Nortonville, KY, Steve Means, Cerulean, KY, and Ricky (Cindy) Means, Hopkinsville, KY; his brothers, John Walker of Washington, Vaughn Walker, Iola, KS, and Nicholas George Walker, Frederick, MD; his grandchildren, Kyle (Sherri) Stanley, Faith Stanley, Olivia Means, Jarrod (Heather) Lee, and Kenny Means; his great-grandchildren, Taegan Stanley, Dylan Lee, Nathan Lee, Lelan Lee, and Autumn Means.
