Durwood Stevens

Durwood Stevens, 82, Sands Drive, Hopkinsville, KY passed away Saturday, July 27, 2024 at Hospice House, Bowling Green, KY of natural causes. 

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 31, 2024 at Lamb Funeral Home with Rev. Mike Humphries officiating. Burial will follow in Peaceful Meadows Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until the service hour on Wednesday, July 31, 2024 at the funeral home.

A native of Cadiz, KY, he was born on January 19, 1942, the son of the late Irvin Jefferson “Dude” Stevens and the late Lois McAlister Stevens. 

Durwood served in the United States Navy and was a track inspector at Illinois Central Gulf Railroad for 35 years. He was a member of Sinking Fork Baptist Church. He was a member of VFW post 1913 and Silver Sneakers. 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Clara Mae Owen Stevens; his daughter, Connie Walker; his brothers, IJ Stevens, Homer Stevens, Charles Stevens, and Layton Stevens; and his sisters, Elizabeth Oliver, Norine Hall, Allene "Dooter" Blanks, and Edith Noel. 

Survivors include his sons, Tony Merrick, Eminence, MO, Stony (Tammy) Merrick, Fairview, KY; his sisters, Virginia Dawson, Louisville, KY, Nancy Clark, Trigg County, KY, Joanne Rose, Cadiz, KY; 4 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren.
