Jackie Riley Obituary

Jackie Eugene Riley, 78, of Oak Grove, died Wednesday, December 28, 2022, in Nashville, of natural causes. 

A graveside service will be held 1:00 p.m. Friday, January 6, 2022 at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery West. Lamb Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements.

Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. on Friday, January 6, 2022 at the funeral home.

A native of Tompkinsville, KY, he was born April 18, 1944, at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. He was proceeded in death by his wife of 44 years, Eva W. (Pennycuff) Riley.

Jackie retired from the United States Army after 23 years of service as a Master Sergeant and was stationed at Fort Campbell, Fort Collins, in Germany, and Korea. After retirement, he and Eva resided at their farm in Oak Grove where they raised chickens and a garden that stocked their produce stand full of tomatoes, cucumbers, and pumpkins. They spent many years helping run a successful Toys for Tots program at Christmas. Jackie also built houses for several years and was a honey bee keeper up until his death.

Survivors include his son, Stevie (Teresa) Riley, of Louisville, KY; his niece, Heather (Matt) Ehlschide, Merdian, ID; his granddaughter, Melissa Felkins of Louisville; his grandson, James Stewart (Laura) Daffron, of Monticello; his sister Niko Capps, of Tompkinsville; seven grandchildren, Britney, Tyler, Kandis, Zachary, Mirissa, Savannah, and Sophia Riley; one great-grandchild, Mason Sonny Daffron; four great-nephews, Erick and Chase Deason, Matthew and Clay Ehlschide; and several nieces and nephews. 

In addition to his wife, he is preceded in death by his parents, Orville and Ina J. (Copas) Riley; his grandparents, Vince and Martha Ann Riley; his daughter, Debra Diane (Pennycuff) Tramonte; two sisters, Teresa Riley Botts and Sue Carter; and four brothers, Robert “Bobby” K. Riley, Jason Bruce Riley, Danny Joe Riley, and Loyce Earl Welch. 

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center or by supporting the produce stand of your choice.
