Kimberly Braboy Obituary

Kimberly Mechelle Kern Braboy, passed away at her home on Tuesday, January 17, 2023, surrounded by her husband, sister, and her five children. She was an exemplary daughter, wife, sister, mother, and friend.

Kim was a Hopkinsville High School graduate; she married her high school sweetheart, Donald Keith Braboy, on June 29, 1991. She furthered her education, graduating from Hopkinsville Community College, before beginning her career as a legal secretary. She would step out of the workforce a few years later to start a family, spending many of her years homeschooling her three daughters and, in 2007, welcoming twin boys into the family. Kim considered her most important work to be her children, and poured her heart and soul into teaching them not only academically, but life skills as well.

Later she worked at the Christian County Justice Center making many friends during her time there.

Kim enjoyed the company of her cats, Charles (deceased), Max, and Ruby. She was very resistant to the idea of getting her first cat, but once she did, she loved them and made sure they were treated like kings and queen. Their returning love provided much peace and comfort to her.

She also enjoyed days at the lake soaking in some sun, enjoying a boat ride, or watching her twin boys swim, fish, or play.

Kim was a friend to all and to know her was to love her.

Her daughters expressed their love and remembrance below.

"Everything I am, mama made me. We had all the firsts together. Wherever she was, we were all trailing right behind her. Among the many wonderful things about her was how she made me love motherhood. She made it a dream - her life’s work, and I feel so honored to pass that down to my children from her.

With mom, the smallest, most basic tasks became a dream job and she had every bit of confidence that I could join her in that dream. She truly made me the woman and mom I am. And she made even the littlest things wonderful.

Evelyn, Lewis, Van, and grandbabies to come, if you know one thing about your Gran Gran let it be this: she loved you so, so very much. She delighted in you, and you will always be such a special part of her legacy." - Hannah

"When I remember mom, I remember strength.

She exemplified strength in raising her family alongside my dad as we went through hard times together, but we also shared many happy times too. She exemplified strength as she took precious care of her parents, especially when her mom got so sick. She exemplified strength as life got more challenging and she just kept smiling.

When I remember mom, I remember my hero." - Allison

"Selfless. She always made sure everyone else was taken care of before herself. She was the most caring mama, a “call me when you make it home safely” mama, a teach you how to cook even though she didn’t enjoy cooking mama; when I think of what a mama should be, I will always think of her. I’m so thankful for the 22 years of laughs and tears that I got to share with her." - Zoe
