Loyd C. Compton

Loyd C. Compton, 99, Russellville Road, Hopkinsville, KY passed away Thursday, September 23, 2021 at Western State Nursing Facility, Hopkinsville, KY of natural causes.

A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, September 27, 2021 at Green Hill Memorial Gardens with Ellis Stallons officiating. Lamb Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements. 

A native of Trigg County, KY, he was born May 6, 1922, the son of the late Walter S. Compton and the late Nellie Mae (Sumner) Compton.

Loyd served in the United States Army during WWII. He retired from Fort Campbell Hospital in the medical supply division and was also a logger. He attended Parkway Missionary Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Thelma (Choate) Compton; his brothers, Floyd Compton and Lacy Compton; his sisters, Ople Joiner, Bobbie Chapman and Lorene Walker Bowers.

Survivors include his sister, Gracie Allen, Gallatin, TN; several nieces and nephews; and great-nieces and great-nephews.
