Shirley Groves

Shirley Groves, 90, E. 20th Street, Hopkinsville, KY passed away Thursday, February 12, 2026 at Christian Health Center, Hopkinsville, KY of natural causes.

A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 17, 2026 at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery West with Bro. McKinley Moore officiating. Lamb Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements.

A native of Evansville, IN, she was born January 17, 1936, the daughter of the late William Isaac Smith and the late Marcilla Mary (Miller) Smith.

Shirley was a service operator at Hopkinsville Shoe Factory for 15 years. She was a lifetime member of the VFW Post 1913.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Willie B. Groves; her granddaughter, Hailee Powell; her brothers, William "Billy" Smith, Jack Smith; her sisters, Anita  Mayo, Norma "Nornie" Etheridge, Jo Ann Hines, Patricia "Pat" Dillman, Sandra Howard, Rosalie Beck, and MaryAnne Gish.

Survivors include her sons, Davie (Sherry) Groves and Doug Groves, both of Hopkinsville, KY, Bruce (Debbie) Groves, of Arizona; her daughter, Janie (Robert) Kelly, Hopkinsville, KY; her brothers, Jimmy Smith, Michael Smith, Bobby Joe Smith, Donnie Smith; her sisters, Francis Smith, Dorothy Hurt, Jill Sandifer, and Debbie Warner; 6 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
