Velma Wagner West Poe of Hopkinsville, KY died on September 6, 2020 at Barkley Plantation in Cadiz, KY. She was born on May 7, 1920 in Todd County, KY. She was the daughter of the late Laura Bell (Kincaid) Wagner and Walter Wagner.
She and her first husband Garth West were caretakers of Lake Morris and Lake Tandy. She was one of the first women hired at International Shoe Company, where she worked until her retirement. Following retirement she was very active at Christian County Senior Citizens Center, where she was a volunteer and active in the senior citizen games. She enjoyed playing cards with her friends and family. Her passion was fishing in the area lakes, entertaining family and friends by having fish frys and serving homemade ice cream. She loved sewing, gardening, and cooking for her family.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Garth West; her second husband, Lois Poe; her son Randy West; her grandson, Jeremy Gordon; four brothers and six sisters.
She is survived by three children, Patricia Coleman of Paducah, KY, Don West of Bumpas Mills, TN, and Doris Gordon of Cadiz, KY. She also has twelve grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.
Arrangements are being handled by Lamb Funeral Home, 3911 Lafayette Road, Hopkinsville, KY. The family will receive family and friends from 10:00 a.m. until the service hour. Funeral service will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 9, 2020 with minister Josh Manning officiating. Burial will follow in Hale Cemetery in Christian County.
