Wayne E. Parthun, 81, Sands Drive, died Tuesday, November 26, 2019 at his home of natural causes.
A celebration of life will be from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. Saturday, January 18, 2020 at Lamb Funeral Home. Interment will take place at Chapel Hill Gardens West in Illinois at a later date.
A native of Chicago, Illinois, he was born January 6, 1938, the son of the late Earle Henry Theodore Parthun and the late Adeline Mary Graves Parthun.
He was a Fire Chief for the Antioch and Riverdale Fire Departments in Illinois, a Paramedic for Lake Villa Rescue Squad, a Fire Marshal with North Maine Fire Protection District in Illinois, a Director of Field Services for the American Cancer Society in Chicago, a Director of Security for various hotels in Illinois, a crematory operator in Illinois, and most recently an attendant at Lamb Funeral Home in Hopkinsville, Kentucky. Wayne also served in the United States Army, where he was a Vietnam Veteran.
Wayne was member of Faith Lutheran Church. He was a member of Knights Templar, where he held the title of Grand Marshal Emeritus, with the Grand Cross Distinction. He was a Chief Marshal for the Military and Hospitaller Order of Saint Lazarus of Jerusalem. He was member of the American Legion and Hopkinsville Rotary Club. He was on the Military Affairs Committee with Christian County Chamber of Commerce. He enjoyed being a home host for the Hoptown Hoppers Baseball Team and also enjoyed traveling, where he visited 21 different countries.
Mr. Parthun can best be remembered for his selfless efforts in furthering his Christian belief, to improve the life of his fellow man, and in the words of his favorite song, "My Way" he did it all.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Armella Parthun Kalivoda and Rev. Lois Parthun Rank.
Survivors include his sons, Jason Waters, California, Marty Swiderek, Illinois; his Godson, Angel Valentin, Hopkinsville; and 4 grandchildren.
