Wesley “Tag” Mabry, age 97, Sanderson Drive, Hopkinsville, KY passed away on Wednesday, December 30, 2020 at Saint Thomas Rutherford Hospital in Murfreesboro, TN following a short illness.
A private family burial will be held at Green Hill Memorial Gardens. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Lamb Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements.
A native of Christian County, KY, Mr. Mabry was born on June 19, 1923, the son of the late Wesley and Annie Hollbrook Keach Mabry. He was a WWII veteran, staff accountant for Moss, Hestley, and Frankle Tobacco Company, a grocery store owner and retired from the Internal Revenue Service after 30 years of service.
Mr. Mabry was a member of Edgewood Baptist Church. He served on the Hopkinsville City Council for ten years, serving as Mayor Pro-Tem and the chairman of the Audit and Finance Committee numerous times. In addition, he was a charter member of the VFW Post 1913, member of the Christian County Historical Society, the Genealogical Society and served on the Christian County Museum and Heart of Hopkinsville board.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Sarah Porter Mabry; his brother, William P. Mabry; his sister, Lois Eileen Boyd; and his granddaughter, Wendy Mabry.
Survivors include his sons, Wesley “Huffy” (Imogene) Mabry and Phillip (Judi) Mabry, both of Hopkinsville, KY; his daughter Susan (Ricky) Ahart, Greenville, KY; his grandchildren, Lauren (Alex) Watkins, Clay Ahart, Jeremy Mabry, Josh Mabry, and Aaron (Dee) Mabry; and great-grandchildren, Jackson Mabry, Colton Mabry, Gunner Mabry, Kaylee Mabry, Easton Watkins and Malone Watkins.
